Before I get into this weeks Campus of The Week, let me explain how incredible the next month is in terms of college party life. Starting the first week in April until the middle of May college life is a pure free for all. Every campus is engulfed with the same attitude; cram for finals (aka two days before the test hit up the library and get work done…work meaning catching dome in the private study rooms from the hot chick in your Psych class) and party your face off for this will be the last run until the fall. The weather is great around the country which always leads to day drinking and a summer lifestyle, but the truth is all you degenerate partyers will be heading back home during the summer where passing out on the kitchen floor or sleeping until 5pm just doesn’t fly. Your roommates who have been bringing random skanks home all semester and throwing furniture out the window are now about to be transformed into your parents and siblings bitching at you to get a job. My advice….rage the fuck out for the next two months. What better way to start then following me to the West Coast, as I hit up one of the best parties of the year….Floatopia. The University of California Santa Barbara is home to the biggest day party located directly on the beach in Isla Vista. Drinking starting at 10am, floating on huge rafts in the ocean, beats bumping throughout the beach,killer house parties and Cali girls dressed in their finest attire (bikinis)… believe me your not going to want to miss this one.
Before you head out for the most badass party of the year, let me give you a crash course on UCSB. The college town at UCSB is Isla Vista, small town packed out with college houses directly looking over the ocean (and you think it’s hard for you to make it to class, imagine having legal beach drinking in your backyard). One of my boys out there likes to constantly remind me that Isla Vista actually consumes 1% of the entire nations alcohol per year so you could imagine the shit show of a scene you are about to walk into. This year the cops are being douchebags in Isla Vista and have done everything in their power to cancel the event but do not let that stop you from going, it will go down one way or another. The drinking starts at 10am so get your pussy ass out of bed and take down the breakfast of champions…Jack Daniels. There is a reason why UCSB is one of the top party schools every year, no matter what they will find a way to get drunk. This weekend the best move is to to hit up a house party to kick things off and there is no better spot than Del Playa. All the houses here will be partying all day and night with live music, so get some booze and get shitty. Instead of you walking around the town with your meat parade and dropping game that only works at Hofstra University, I’m giving you the exclusive list to all the craziest parties going down all weekend long.
- Friday April 9th – 6618 Sueno – Two kegs and the live band 2 Primal
- Saturday April 10th – 6566 Del Playa – The Marely House bash with live music and a party in the front and back yards.
- Saturday April 10th – 6568 Del Playa – Next to the Marely House, come party with the best beats from DJ Durty English.
- Saturday April 10th – 6507 Del Playa – This backyard bash is an all day and night function. Drop by and get funky to the native sounds local DJ WYO and Casa St. Hooligans of San Luis Obispo.
- Saturday April 10th – 6779 Pasado – Surf Club hosts another notorious $5 rager featuring music, bikini clad babes, BBQ, and Volleyball.
- Saturday April 10th – 6703 Sueno – SChiOtopia is gonna be an all day outdoor party at the S Chi O house, featuring at least 3 kegs, 20 gallons of jungle juice, handles everywhere, DJ Grime Star in the mix, and of course the most beautiful weather SB has to offer.
- Sunday April 11th – 6681 Sueno Unit A. – We are about to party like it’s the end of the world, or the beginning of something amazing, in fact we are going to rage so hard we might as well HAVE been kicked off DP.
Like I said before, the party will go down one way or another and the students at UCSB are preparing for pure mayhem. Hit up as many of the parties from above as possible and I promise you the day will be amazing. Most people tend to fade out by around 5pm since they have been pounding jungle juice and whisky all day, take into consideration that UCSB has some of the best looking girls in the country….put them together and you have your afternoon session plus a place to crash for a few hours. When you wake up get the fuck out of whatever slampig’s room you went home with, get yourself an orange gatorade, and prepare to continue drinking throughout the night. Parties will still be going on along Del Playa Drive so get that second wind and hit the bottle again. No matter what happens the weather, cops or school officials will not effect the spectacle that is Floatopia. Grab your drinking boots, buy a float and prepare your liver for this weekend.
