If you haven’t been paying attention to anything we’ve said over the past week or two, then you most definitely missed our thoughts on Cosmic Opera, the extrasensory music experience that’s taking place at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on February 24. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, and you can get them here. Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell is headlining, so be ready. Check out the trailer after the jump.
On Sunday, January 8th, 2012 tens of thousands of people took off their pants on subways in 59 cities in 27 countries around the world. This is the official video recap of the event, an annual tradition by ImprovEverywhere. We were going to post a gallery of pantless participants on Monday, but figured that you much rather see it in action than stare at a bunch of old dudes in tighty-whities and chicks with cottage cheese on their thighs.
And you thought it was over after Halloween. The Mortal Kombat flash mob has been on a tear since then, gathering even more famed characters from the series and breakdancing all over NYC – from a TGI Friday’s to a truck’s flatbed (2:15, watch for when the girl takes a wicked spill…I know from experience that it’s hard to jump off a moving vehicle, even at slow speeds). Don’t know why it had to be 7 minutes long, but it’s well worth it.
We have been hearing rumblings about this for a while and now there is finally video proof!! Cosmic Opera is coming to NYC and we cannot wait! Word is that one of the world’s top 10 DJs will be performing at this epic event of Astrological Proportions. Everything is being kept extremely hush hush, and in this world, the less you know, the bigger the party is going to be. Watch the video and stay tuned for more updates from this extrasensory mega-show in NYC.
It’s been a while since I trusted FM radio or music on television, but apparently Fuse has really caught on to America’s rising interest in EDM. When Swedish House Mafia invaded New York City on Friday December 16, they were there with cameras, live streaming the party for everyone in the world to see. Some guy was smart enough to download the whole thing and upload it. Dance your morning away.
Last we heard from Frat Dude, otherwise known as J-Train, he was broing up Comic Con and subtly insulting tons of virgins – err, I mean comic enthusiasts. Now he’s back, taking on Santacon as only a Frat Dude can. Get ready for lots of Natty Light references and rape jokes.
It’s no secret that New York City showcases the top talent in the world…and this rings even more true when major events come around such as the week of New Year’s Eve. With acts like Deadmau5, Nero, Avicii, and Afrojack all making stops, it can almost seem overwhelming to the average concertgoer. Luckily, we over here at Campus Socialite would like to help shed some light on two events that, for anyone who thinks they know electronic music, are MUST SEE shows.
The class is officially called “Dance Music and Nightlife Culture in New York City,” and seeks to answer the great question of life: “why do we go out at night?” If I had to venture a guess, I’d say it’s probably because school and work keep us inside and miserable all day. Yes, students actually get credits for taking this class. But that’s not all.
Taxis are never around when you need them. It’s a good thing we found Uber, the iPhone/Android app that gets you baller car service whenever and wherever you need it. Because nothing kills the female libido like waiting for a yellow cab.
