Left blood thirsty for the head of Zeus after finishing God of War 2 nearly 3 years ago? Two words: Drink up! God of War 3 dropped last month exclusively for the Playstation 3 and boy do I feel sorry for those of you who only have an xbox360 or a wii as your home console. This game is balls to the wall awesome. The in game graphics are flawless and run start to finish without pause or fail. The environments and boss battles are absolutely huge and no detail is spared. The game play is roughly the same and still just as easy to pick up and button mash or strategically chain combos to really rack up the kills. You’ve got your quick attack, strong attack, jump, block, grab and magic. Variations of quick attack and strong attack button presses will execute different attack combos. As you slay the minions of Olympus, you absorb their energy that you can then spend to upgrade your weapons with stronger attacks and new combos. The game picks up right where the last leaves of; Kratos and the Titans are on their quest for revenge against the gods and are storming the gates. One by one through clever puzzles, mythological beasts, and some great sex with Aphrodite and her mistress’, you are picking off the likes of Poseidon, Hades and Hercules to name a few. The story has some hiccups and at times feels like its trying too hard. Thankfully before you can really stop to think about it a centaur appears just begging for you to filet it and throw it on the grill. Like the previous titles, each boss fight leaves you with a new and improved weapon or magic ability to help rip out that cyclops eye in tough times.
This game is a must for any playstation 3 owner. It’s everything you could want out of a video game at the most epic proportions. If you are the type of gamer who only goes for a single play through and have time on your side, pick up a used copy from your local retailer. Most return policies give you a week to get your money back on used games and that’s plenty of time to get through this game at least once.
