If we can set off copious amounts of fireworks our country’s declaration of independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain, give thanks for the harvest by slaughtering a turkey, and celebrate the day when a nation adopts their own colors (yeah, I’m looking at you Flag Day), then why shouldn’t we commemorate some of the most important women in our culture by recognizing International Nurses Day? In the interest of full disclosure, I should admit that the most special lady in my life – my own mother – is a nurse, so I am partial to her kind. For those of you actually interested in the historical relevance of the day, May 12, 1820 is the birthday of Florence Nightingale aka “The Lady with the Lamp” – she invented the nursing game as she tended to British soldiers wounded in the Crimean War. In honor of Flo and all of the compassionate, benevolent nurses out there, please enjoy a look at The Campus Socialite’s most beautiful nurses from the entertainment world.
