Okay, so this might be going up purely for my own amusement, but I couldn’t resist. Starz’s Party Down was a comedy with a massive cult following that only aired for two seasons before it got the ax. It was loaded with tastefully dry comedy and unfortunate realities about the entertainment industry.
The show followed a group of failed actors, comedians, and writers as they got lost in the food service industry. There was more drinking, smoking, pill popping, and partying than catering, which was part of the show’s pessimistic charm.
Unfortunately the show never attracted a large enough audience, and was canceled after its second season. But now, creator Rob Thomas (no, not the guy from Matchbox 20, but funny coincidence nonetheless) has acknowledged the possibility of a Party Down movie in the near future.
“People are talking to us about doing a ‘Party Down’ movie,” Thomas said. “We are pretty far down the deal-making process with that, so we’re hopeful that there will be a ‘Party Down’ movie. Ideally, if it works out we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. Hopefully that deal will close, and we’ll all tweet about it when it does.” Check out the video below for proof.
Party Down is Socialite Approved for your viewing purposes. Check out both seasons and try telling me you didn’t enjoy it. That’s what I thought.
