For those of you who believed Al and Tipper Gore split up after 40 years of marriage just because they “grew apart,” then in the immortal words of cocaine kingpin Tony Montana: “Whoever’s giving you your information is taking you for a long ride.” Think about it, Al Gore is a politician and if history has taught us anything it’s that politics and infidelity go together like peas and carrots. Did anyone really buy that Al Gore kept it in his pants and endured sentencing to the same vagina for four full decades? C’mon folks, this was Bill “Slick Willie” Clinton’s Vice President for crying out loud! Gore was knee deep in bitches and it just so happens that it wasn’t until after he was out of office that he claimed his prized piece of tail: the ex-wife of the brilliant comedic mind behind Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld, Larry David. Read on to see how Gore allegedly went more than just green with environmental activist Laurie David.
Star Magazine is reporting that the former Vice President’s shocking split from his wife, Tipper, was not just a case of growing apart, but a result of Gore’s two-year involvement with Laurie David, an environmentalist and film producer. Many people recognize Laurie David simply as Larry’s wife, but she has made her bones as an activist, author and producer and is best known for her work on An Inconvenient Truth, the 2006 documentary film which profiled Gore’s campaign to save the planet from climate change and catapulted him to a new level of stardom.
David has ran in Hollywood circles since the ’80s when she worked in the entertainment industry and has produced several star-studded specials and high-profile documentaries in recent years to raise awareness for environmental issues. In 2007, David, the “celebrity activist,” hit the road with Sheryl Crow on the “Stop Global Warming College Tour.” David, who says she is “devoted to stopping global warming,” has written several books and won numerous awards for her work on the environment and was dubbed the “Bono of climate change” by Vanity Fair magazine. Now with news of her supposed sexual exploits with Big Al, David is now being known more for her work in the bedroom.
David is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and went to the blog Tuesday to issue a denial of the affair. Ironically, as news of her possible involvement in Gore’s marital drama made headlines, David’s website advertised that her “attention is now on the family environment” as she touts a new book called “The Family Dinner.” Talk about bad timing, what’s next for David, she is caught clubbing a baby seal while on her “Save the Earth” campaign?
While friends of the Gores expressed shock at the announcement of Al and Tipper’s separation, it’s possible the clues about David were there all along. In 2006, she wrote an article in the Guardian titled “How I made Al Gore Sexy,” in which she professed a crush from afar.
“Al Gore is incredibly funny and brilliant and charming,” she wrote. “He’s like the professor you wished you had in college.”
Damn Laurie, I’m guessing you spent a lot of time in extra help. As amusing as it is to hear about an affair between a politician and a public figure like David, I feel for Larry – I guess he’ll just have to wipe his hilarious tears with his hundreds of millions of dollars of TV money. How many people can say they their ex is banging a former VP anyways? I’m sure it will provide some great material for the upcoming season of Curb.
