Anderson Cooper, CNN’s pretty news anchor, was attacked along with crew members while in Egypt covering the uprising. The incident has taken the nation by storm, and shed some light on how truly intense the situation in Egypt has become over this past week. How will the United States react to this assault on one of its own? Will Barack Obama become more insistent on his request for Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to relinquish control of the embattled country? Has The Campus Socialite finally entered the political debate? No…but here’s a list of the top 5 celebrities who have been punched in the face. Enjoy Socialites!
Saigon vs. Mobb Deep
Rapper Saigon, who was featured on HBO’s Entourage, had an altercation in 2007 with members of Mobb Deep. Mobb Deep’s Prodigy reportedly said at some point prior that Saigon could suck his dick. During a Mobb Deep performance at SOB’s in Downtown Manhattan, Saigon came on stage for a surprise performance and was surrounded by Mobb Deep’s entourage (also no pun intended). Saigon knocked Prodigy on the floor with two swift punches and proceeded to ground and pound him. The posse started throwing bottles at Saigon and he was forced to flee the club. Oh rappers…why can’t we all just get along?
Lindsay Lohan vs. Waitress
Oh Lindsay Lohan. What Campus Socialite list wouldn’t you end up on? For the girl who’s done it all, getting punched in the face on her birthday does not seem too hard to imagine. None the less, let’s give Lindsay her fair share of celebrity infamy. It is well-deserved. In late 2010, Lindsay was celebrating her birthday at a nightclub when a waitress inexplicably punched her in the face. Anyone who’s worked as a waiter knows the urge to physically attack a customer comes up more often than not, and I don’t doubt that Lohan got what was coming. The particulars of the incident are unclear, but except for Lindsay and the few who give a stuff about her, i’m sure there were no particularly zealous complaints.
Vinny Chase vs. Eminem
The once-promising movie star, Vinny Chase, reached his ultimate downfall in 2010. After doing his own stunts for the first time in his career, Chase went on a year long shock binge during which he dated porn star Sasha Grey and began regularly snorting excessive amounts of Cocaine. His manager, Eric Murphy, along with brother, Johnny Chase, agent Ari Gold, and useless lackey, Turtle, could do nothing but watch as Chase slowly fell from grace. After an altercation with Grey and reportedly downing a full bottle of bourbon, Chase attended a hotel party hosted by Eminem. After brutishly hitting on Minka Kelly, Chase was asked to leave by Eminem personally. When Chase reacted unfavorably, and suggested that Eminem no longer fought his own battles, the rap superstar punched Chase in the face before his entourage finished the job. Hours later, a bag of cocaine was found in Chase’s hospital room. The truth to these events has been disputed. Mostly because they took place on “Entourage,” a TV show on HBO, and Vinny Chase is a character played by Adrian Grenier.
Snooki vs. Random Bar Patron
One of the most despicable, most revolting, and kinda funny events captured on reality television. During Season 1 of “The Jersey Shore,” the gang partied at a Seaside Heights bar, when a group of male patrons began trying to sneak drinks away from them. Snooki reacted angrily to the attempted thief, by standing on a bar stool in order to almost reach normal height, and yell in the dishonest patrons’ faces. In a turn of events nobody could have possibly predicted, one of the guys (a school teacher) wound up and cracked Snooki in the face, dropping her from her perch onto the wood floor. Chaos erupted and the attacker was dragged out of the bar by security while the female cast members tended to Snooki, and the male cast members feigned toughness by yelling at the man. Horrible incident. Good Television!
