Of course we’re doing our own chicken dances over here at Campus Socialite HQ, but I’m sure you don’t wanna see that. Mitchell Hurwitz and Jason Bateman have confirmed that there will be a new 10 episode season of the cult classic TV show Arrested Development, all leading up to the movie.
Here’s the tweet that set the internet ablaze with Arrested Development fever:

The decision to make new episodes came on the heels of a realization that Hurwitz had while he was penning the screenplay for the movie. He tells the NY Times:
“We don’t completely own the property, there are business people involved and studios and that kind of thing. Just creatively, I have been working on the screenplay for a long time and found that as time went by, there was so much more to the story. In fact, where everyone’s been for five years became a big part of the story. So in working on the screenplay, I found even if I just gave five minutes per character to that back story, we were halfway through the movie before the characters got together.”
As I’m sure you could figure out already, each of the 9 or 10 episodes will focus on one of the central characters and their whereabouts over the past 5 years, which will set up for one hell of an Arrested Development movie.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the show’s producers have also been in talks with Netflix and Showtime to find an outlet for a comeback in 2013, 10 years after its initial run. This is good news for Netflix – the company has been battling off bad publicity since the decision to turn its DVD division into a separate entity. The enormous cult following that comes with Arrested Development should help turn their original programming division into a force to be reckoned with.
But now here comes the fun. We’ve compiled 13 amazing clips and compilations from all 3 seasons of Arrested Development, and you can watch all of them without even leaving the page. Of course these clips are no substitute for the actual show, so if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend you go find all the episodes somewhere on the Internet and have yourself a marathon.
The one thing I regret is that I couldn’t find a compilation for the Literal Doctor, who is by far my favorite character in the series, so I’ll just throw in some ambiguous quotes from him here: “we lost him”, “it looks like he’s dead”, and “he’s going to be all right.” Don’t get it? Watch the show and you’ll find out.
