Seems like there’s always drama going down in Arizona, but when our friends over at Tempe12 get involved, The Campus Socialite needs to step up. Tempe12 has always been a fixture at the annual ASU Undie Run, an event that combines charitable clothing donation with girls running around in their underwear. This year however, The Undie Run’s new President is trying to change that. According to him, any girl sporting a pair of Tempe12 skivvies will not only be removed from the event, but arrested! David Freedman and Tempe12 have been major supporters of everything Arizona State University for over 6 years. The website not only features hot girls on one of the hottest campuses around but has great relations with the school and the community. The Undie Run in particular, which is younger than Tempe12, and its former President Rubin Green have had a great, mutually beneficial relationship with the website.
According to Freedman, Tempe12 used their website as well as their Facebook page to help promote the event. It doesn’t stop there though. On the day of The Undie Run, Tempe12 showed up at the event with a bus, filled with hot girls featured on their website, all required to bring 30 items of clothing. In total, Tempe12 and it’s band of scantily clad chics donated 500 items of clothing all to charity.
Doesn’t seem like Tempe12 did much wrong does it? New President Sean Leoni apparently disagrees. Freedman told me on the phone that recently he made a call to Leoni, just to introduce himself and go over some particulars of Tempe12-Undie Run partnership’s assumed continuation. Leoni told Freedman that the Undie Run’s values don’t match up with Tempe12’s. Which values in particular? Leoni had no response. More on that later.
Leoni then told Freedman that not only would the company be unwelcome at the event, any girl wearing panties displaying the Tempe12 brand would be arrested. You might be asking yourself what law prevents a girl from wearing a particular symbol on her thong. David Freedman and myself are asking ourselves the same question. Leoni had no response.
As far as I’m concerned, the “values” (Sean Leoni’s words, not mine) behind a clothing drive are getting as much clothing as possible. Seems logical right? This is why it’s really hard for me to understand how the Tempe12, who donated by far the bulk amount of clothing last year, is suddenly of different values then the event. I suggested to Freedman that maybe this dude’s ex-girlfriend is a Tempe12 girl, but he’s obviously not that cool.
More than likely, Arizona State University is behind the discrimination. The absence of Tempe12 won’t be the only change made this year. For the first time, The Undie Run will be fenced in, with security, and signs politely informing students that they can be removed at any time. Sounds like a scene I saw in District 9. Much like the ill fated Preakness Infield, it seems like those in charge are trying to remove the fun from another awesome event. You can bet that next year will be worse too. Tempe12 and their horribly offensive scantily clad girls are no longer welcome at an event centered around people in their underwear. Fuck charity! They can take their 500 articles of clothing and burn them. All in all, this amounts to another persons twisted view of decency getting in the way of everyone Else’s fun, and in this case, poor people having clothes to wear too.
The good news though is that you can support Tempe12. The website is now running an underground campaign to prove that they are the real lifeblood of the event and deserve to be a part of it.
