So Dallas picks up Dez Bryant in the first round. SWEET GRAB! Yeah maybe they needed some more help in the secondary, which yes they do need, but I personally am pretty excited about this pick. I’m a pretty big Longhorn fan down to my shoes but I have to say, I am incredibly disappointed with Roy Williams. I don’t think anyone else I know has been as stubborn as I have been to stand beside him despite his drops, miscommunications, and poorly ran routes. Maybe I’m truly the only fool in this state and the other 49 that think he still has some good to offer. But that’s not the topic of today’s column so we’re just going to skip right over all of the hypotheticals regarding number 11. We’re here today to discuss Dez Bryant and that’s what we’re going to do.
Now by the end of training camp I’m willing to be my balls that Miles Austin becomes the number one. There truly is no doubt about it. He has the size, speed, and hands to be that franchise number one wide out. Now, consider Dez Bryant. White is a hell of a star from OK State who is nothing less than utterly impressive. He’s the Larry Fitzgerald type: throw the ball in his general area and he will do whatever it takes to outplay his defender to make the grab.
Can anyone else remember the last time Dallas had a wide receiver other than Miles Austin doing these types of things? Michael Irvin was the right answer but doesn’t really matter.
I’m excited about Dez Bryant and the rest of you Cowboy fans should be. Getting the rock thrown from Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo will only make him that much more of a better player. It’s going to be a hell of a season. Now we just need a better play caller…
