Commercial Bowl: 5 Super Bowl Ads To Look Forward To

Now that the epic NFC and AFC championships are over and the Super Bowl match-up is set, the countdown to the big game can finally begin. On February 5th, 2012 the New York Giants will face the New England Patriots in a rematch of Super Bowl XLV. As we all know, the Super Bowl isn’t only about the game – the highly anticipated commercials are half the fun. Advertisers are dishing out an average of $3.5 million this year for a 30-second spot in the most viewed program of the year. Here’s a list of the top 5 we’re looking forward to.

Doritos

Doritos are back with their “Crash the Super Bowl” campaign, allowing users to upload 30-second spots that fans vote on. The five finalists for this year have already been chosen and are up for your vote at www.crashthesuperbowl.com. Three lucky winners will go home with truckloads of cash if their commercials are rated in the top 3.  Last year’s winner (above) scored the number 1 rating in USA Today’s ad meter, earning the creator $1 million and leaving us with high expectations for this year’s finalists.

Budweiser

Bud Light

Anheuser-Busch has always been a fan favorite, giving viewers classic commercials like the Budweiser frogs and the Clydesdales. This year look for Budweiser to premiere their new beer, Bud Light Platinum. This new beer goes on sale January 30th nationwide, offering a smooth taste with a higher 6% alcohol content – which is a cause for celebration across college campuses. We expect big things from Budweiser commercials this year with this highly anticipated launch right before the Super Bowl.

E-trade

The E-trade baby will make an appearance for the 5th straight year. The new commercial above was released on January 20th, but they’re not letting on if it’s the actual Super Bowl ad. E-trade has a proven track record of making us laugh (and inevitably creeping us out a bit), so we’re looking forward to this year’s new commercial.

Go Daddy

No reason to wait until the big game to see the Go Daddy 2012 Super Bowl ad – It was released earlier this month, and carries on the traditional raciness that they’d held so dear in the past. Danica Patrick & Jillian Michaels return to promote the domain giant by painting the human canvas Natalia Velez (sexy). Although it’s more of the same from Go Daddy, you can’t deny the appeal of hot chicks and suggested nudity.

Chevrolet

Chevrolet ran a contest of their own called “Route 66” that allowed fans to create their 2012 commercial in exchange for a $10,000 prize. This is the winning commercial from Zack Borst, called “Happy Grad.” The commercial was released by Chevy and has gone viral with over 300,000 hits on Youtube. Sorry to ruin the surprise for you Chevy fans.

Honorable Mentions

We couldn’t leave out Kia, since their ad will feature Victoria’s Secret supermodel and total wood Adriana Lima. If nothing else, Kia gets props for this year’s sexiest commercial. Oh yeah, they’re also advertising the Optima. Did we mention that?

Volkswagen has released a teaser trailer of their Super Bowl ad (above), once again Stars Wars themed – but this time featuring a choir of barking dogs. They call it “The Bark Side.”

Samsung looks to directly attack Apple’s iPhone with their Voyager campaign.

Priceline is revealing their new spokesperson after finally dropping a very old, worn out, and boring William Shatner. Sorry Kirk, you just weren’t cutting it anymore.

Super Bowl XLVI should be an amazing game – a rematch for the ages – and should also be stacked with some memorable and hilarious commercials.
