You couldn’t have written the story better than it happened. After hitting 2,999 in the 1st inning, Derek Jeter stepped up to the plate again in the 3rd, and on a full count fast-ball from The Ray’s David Price, blasted one to Left-Center. I think everyone in New York (and beyond) still can’t believe their eyes. The only other player to hit a homerun for their 3000th hit was Wade Boggs, and with Jeter’s season total now 2, nobody expected anything except an opposite field single. Bravo Jeter! 3000, sure entry into the Hall-of-Fame, and Minka Kelly waiting at home. True Yankee, True Legend, True Socialite.
