First of all, Yes. Second of all, that is the creepiest picture of a white man I’ve ever seen in my life. Love the fact that ESPN assumes that if Michael Vick had grown up white he would automatically have a crew cut. He looks like your average, up-standing, non-dog killing but possibly date raping American citizen.
Keep in mind: I am not racist by any means. If anything stereotypical or racist-sounding comes out of my mouth in this article, it is simply because I can’t not see the humor in this ridiculous picture. Imagine being the graphic artist at ESPN headquarters, grabbing your Dunkin Donuts, strolling into the office and then being told that your job for the day is to take a picture of Michael Vick and turn him into a white guy. All other features must remain the same.
ESPN actually raises some good points in this article. The author essentially implies that Vick’s playing style is a direct result of him being Black (controversial?) and that he may have been unfairly treated by the justice system as a result of this (perhaps). Very interesting ESPN. Personally I think that forcing dogs to kill each other necessitates way more years in prison than 2, black or white.
But can we get back to the picture here? Imagine being Michael Vick, going to ESPN.com (no athlete will admit he reads the articles but they all do), and seeing yourself, only a different race, staring back at you. If ESPN has proved anything in this article, it’s that black facial features don’t easily translate into white ones, and i’d imagine vice versa. On that note, what if Jay Cutler were black when he bowed out of a playoff game last year because of an injury? Would people have been calling him a pussy or would they just go ahead and assume he was Hard as A Motherfudgeer. Ok, bad territory. I’ll just say this. Balls ESPN, Balls.
