Good work on making it to Thanksgiving Break without going crazy from all the ridiculous amounts of homework/partying you’ve been doing. With all the festivities to celebrate being more than halfway done with the semester, your liver could use some well-needed R&R, so Thanksgiving break couldn’t come at a better time. Here are some ways to have a productive Thanksgiving break without doing much of anything.
Get on Your Parent’s Good Sides
It’s pretty simple: Do some major sucking up. Show them how well you’re doing in your classes by bringing them home a graded test or essay. They will be so proud of their child that you will be going back to school not only with a car full of groceries, but also some extra cash. It’s even better if you can convince them that you are such a good student that you would rather go to the library on a Friday night than a frat party. Bring your A-game exaggeration skills and you’ll be good to go. I wouldn’t consider it a successful break without coming back with food and money.
Mental Health Day
You are no longer stuck in a room with your annoying roommate, so you can get in the quiet time you’ve been needing. Take a day off just for yourself; Trust me it’ll be worth it. No classes, no roommate, no nagging parents, just you and some well-deserved rest. The second half of the semester is always crazier than the first so you’ll be grateful for these extra hours of sleep in the long run. Not only that but you’ll feel so much better knowing you relaxed during break while that annoying roommate of yours worked their ass off and had a horrible break.
Catch Up on Everything You’ve Missed
Being a productive college student is no easy task, yet somehow you’ve managed it. In doing so, you’ve been missing all your favorite TV shows. Spend this break bonding with your good friend – On Demand. It gives you a reason to be lazy all day and for a good purpose. Needing to know what happened with Chuck and Blair on Gossip Girl is way more important then seeing your old friends. Think about it, you can get all caught up in the episodes you’ve missed and still have time to enjoy all those Thanksgiving day leftovers.
Planning Ahead
A lot of us have already started choosing classes for next semester. If you’re still in the middle of picking yours, being home is great because you can literally take as much time as you need to figure out your schedule. The other great thing about having some alone time is prepping for finals. Let’s be serious, they’ll be here before we know it. More time you plan ahead, the more time you have to play once everything’s done. Get everything organized, figure out when you can and can’t procrastinate, and you’ll be good to go.
