How to Spend Your Winter Break

Every semester, after two weeks of finals, the only thing you want to do is forget about college. The question is, however, how are you going to spend the break? Well, here are a couple of suggestions for all you college students that will get you through the break.

Spend Time With Family and Old Friends

The most obvious way to spend your winter break is to go home and see the people who give you the opportunity to go to college, your parents. Those two weeks of finals felt like a long time coming and what better way to spend winter break than getting some hometown love? There is nothing like going home and having everyone cater to your needs because they haven’t seen you in forever.  Also, if your parents know how to cook, that is just another plus to going home after four months of eating take-out or ramen noodles everyday. Being home is a great experience because it’s like everyone is fighting for your attention because they haven’t seen you. However, if you live in a small town, then, of course, this won’t last very long so you will need to find something else to do.

Winter Break Job

With the holiday season in full swing, a lot of companies are in need of seasonal workers. I mean, it definitely beats getting yelled at by your parents when all you do is go out and come home at 4am. The last thing you need is to feel like you are in high schooll again. The job will give you some liberty in the sense that when you come in at 4am, your parents will be not as angry considering that is not all you are doing during the break.

Road Trip

If you come from a small town like I do, it is safe to assume you will be bored in a matter of hours. A road trip with some old friends or even your friends from college will be a perfect solution. Nothing beats just hanging out with your friends and having a good time for a week or so. The only problem is, you have to make sure you have enough money to go through with this one. You can’t  expect the car to fill itself up with gas, that is just not going to happen. So if you do plan a road trip, make sure you have the essentials for gas money and food. Sleeping space will not be necessary because let’s be honest, who needs a hotel room when you have car space and plenty of rest stops throughout the U.S.

Go to a Bowl Game

It is bowl season in the NCAA Football world and these are the games that put the best of the best against each other.  This year is no different. It will be a great way to put an end to football season. However, you can expect this to cost you a lot of money. If you are looking into prices, expect to drop somewhere between $500 and $900 for a bowl game. But if it is your college, it will be well worth the money.

Be a Bum

This is what you hear most people did during the break: be a bum. The whole point of a Winter Break is the break part of it. There is nothing like just forgetting about school for a month and straight chilling. The best thing is that you don’t have to be at home to do this if you don’t want to. You could easily do this wherever you choose to stay during break. It is always fun to say that you did literally nothing for four weeks.
