What’s that? You can’t dye your hair with a drink, you say?
Well…we’ll see.
HEY! Kool-Aid!
Step 1.) Choose your flavor: Now, anything with red tones is obviously going to work really well, but green and blue fair just fine.
Step 2.) In a large pot, combine 6-10 packets of your desired color with equal parts water (e.g. 6 packets of Kool-Aid to 6 cups of water). Do not add sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for approximately five minutes.
Step 3.) Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool for five minutes. In the meantime, spread out the newspaper and put on the latex gloves.
Step 4.) Place the pot on the newspaper. Dip chunks of your hair into the pot, using the ladle to spoon water up closer to the roots. Be very careful not to pour the water directly onto your head, as it will still be quite hot!
Step 5.) Hold your hair in the water for 10-15 minutes. Work your way around your head, until all of the desired hair has been in the dip.
Step 6.) Dry your hair with the towel. Make sure it is a towel that you don’t mind permanently staining. If you plan to do this frequently, it can become your “dying towel”.
Step 7.) Blow dry your hair. Style as usual. Do not shampoo for 24 hours.
Oh, and the reason you don’t add sugar is, obviously, to keep your hair from getting sticky.
You…did read that part…didn’t you? I sure hope so.
The Power of Beet Juice
Step 1.) Mix 1/2 cup of beet juice with 1/2 cup of carrot juice.
Step 2.) Pour the mixture over your hair. Do this outside over a grassy area to avoid staining your kitchen or bathroom.
Step 3.) Sit outside in the sun for an hour to allow the juice to stain your hair. Wrap a towel around your shoulders, or wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
Step 4.) Repeat as often as necessary to achieve the color you want. Some people may have immediate results, while others may need to repeat the process for a few days (or weeks) in a row for visible results.
