When Mozilla realized that Google Chrome had finally surpassed them in users, they must have decided to pull out all the stops. What they came up with is actually really amazing, for charity and for you. Mozilla is giving you the chance to help your favorite celebrities win $25,000 donated to the charity of their choice. And as with every other great marketing campaign, to the winner go the spoils. The standout? Jason Bateman giving you the chance to hang out on the set of the best reintroduced cult classic of all time, Arrested Development. All he needs from you is $59 of your friends’ money.
Bateman’s charity of choice is called City Year, and even though college students aren’t generally the most charitable bunch, this is something they might be able to wrap their minds around. City Year is a charity that provides a support system to help kids to stay on track in High School and through college. It aims to curb the large dropout rates in inner city and impoverished communities. Can’t argue with that. The 1,750 motivators will complete 3 million hours of volunteer service in this year alone.
In order to get $25,000 donated to City Year, Jason Bateman needs to raise more money than any other celebrity. And all he wants from you is $59, and he’s willing to reward you for the privilege. Upon raising $59 (minimum of course) you are automatically entered into a contest to win a day of chilling out on the set of Arrested Development. The prize does not include travel, or room and board which is pretty lame if you live anywhere else but LA. None the less, I would gladly pay for the plane trip and sleep in my Kia rent-a-car.
