Our founding fathers didn’t sign the Declaration of Independence for us to rock out with our willys (figuratively speaking) this weekend but we’re going to do it anyway. Whether you’re hitting up a family barbecue, visiting the local hot spot to watch the fireworks or spending every night at the club creating your own fireworks, here are five songs to celebrate the 4th of July after you sing the usual “Star Spangled Banner” and “Yankee Doodle” melodies.
Miley Cyrus – Party in the U.S.A
You knew this one was coming. Miley takes time away from taking naked pics to let us know that she parties hard when they play that Jay Z song or that Britney song. Play this song and nod your head and move your hips like yeahhh…
Kelis – 4th of July (Fireworks)
I’ll admit, this song has nothing to do with 4th of July or the literal kind of fireworks minus the line Kelis repeats toward the end of the song, but it’s perfect for dancing. The beat is hypnotic just like the fireworks you see on 4th of July.
Lenny Kravitz – American Woman
This song is for the bad ass woman getting ready to go out i.e. the girl who epitomizes Campus Diva. You might play this while you’re deciding whether to wear underwear with those white pants or go commando. There’s nothing like a sexy man singing lyrics about a bad ass American woman.
Katy Perry – Firework
This song has two things we like: Katy Perry and fireworks. Encouraging lyrics aside, this song’s beat is crazy good and perfect for dancing at a nightclub or wailing with your girls after a few lemon drops at the bar.
Kanye West- All of the Lights
This song represents all of the bright lights you’ll see this weekend. When you’re wasted and under the influence, the lights from this video create a part inside your head. Hopefully, you’re not seeing police lights. Oh, and heed to the photosensitive epilepsey warning.
