New York City had a foot of snow dumped on its streets last Wednesday, but that didn’t stop a loyal crowd of music enthusiasts from coming out to The Studio at Webster Hall for The Twees Record Release Party. “These Girls,” the newly released five song EP from the NY-based quartet, was soon to be unleashed to a sizable crowd that made no excuses to travel in the slushy, city streets. The Twees have an Indie/Pop sound that has captivated audiences in the New York City Region, but the band has plans to spread their catchy tunes to audiences nationwide in 2011.
When the band took the stage, any fan could see the excitement in the eyes of each of the band mates. Perhaps it was the size of the crowd, the realization the day had finally come, or that the snow couldn’t stop the music; but when lead vocalist/guitarist Jason Abrishami strummed the first chord on his shiny, white Les Paul, the band and the crowd came alive! They were energetic, crisp, and more than prepared for their big night.
Perhaps the best part of the evening was when the band called upon their fans to join them on stage during their song Wishful Thinking Youth. It seemed like half the crowd had vacated for the stage, and when the song commenced, you could barely see the performers. The fans danced, the band rocked, and this night was a huge success! Bassist Dave Kaplan said after the performance, “I couldn’t be happier with the show, our record, and the crowd. Who’s ready for the after-party?” There will certainly be many more after-parties for The Twees in the years to come.
