Throwback Thursday is back and we’re really digging deep into your childhood for this one. I’m sure you remember all three of the above-mentioned things, but we’re going to show you some old school videos anyway. Hopefully they make you wanna go out and get a pair of LA Lites and eat a Kid Cuisine while watching “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”
Kid Cuisine
To this day, I’m still tempted to go into the freezer aisle at the grocery store and buy myself a Kid Cuisine, despite the fact that I know how terrible it is every time. These TV dinners were so attractive: the food looked amazing on the cover, plus bright colors and cartoon animals. Perfect for marketing to innocent children. But then you’d get home and heat it up in the microwave and discover that the chicken nuggets tasted like rubber and the brownie was like a brick. The only part that ever came out tasting all right was the corn.
LA Lites
In kindergarten you weren’t cool unless you had a pair of LA Lites. You remember these shoes? They’d light up when you took a step. That’s all they did. Now that I think about it, they were an epic waste of money, but at least you looked cool when you walked. I much rather have those shoes with the wheels in them that kids wear nowadays. At least those are practical.
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
You bet your ass I was. The intro to the show is actually far scarier than any of the stories that get told. But nevertheless, I was never the biggest fan of horror-type stuff…probably because my dad scared the crap out of me when I was a kid by putting a life-size doll outside the bathroom door with a knife. I opened the door after peeing and, well, I almost shat my pants. Never forgave him for that…
