Yup, it’s that time of year again! School’s out…and that means all the big movies are too! Like always, we have the mix of sequels to popular franchises, some remakes/adaptations, along with some brand new themes that are gathering hype on just how awesome they look. Check it out!
10. Dinner for Schmucks – Starring Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and The Hangover‘s Zach Galifianakis. I don’t know about you, but I cant even think of a better comedy trio.
9. Shrek Forever After– Yes, everyone loves Shrek. And not only is it the final chapter, but its also going to be in IMAX 3D.
8. The A-Team– An adaptation of the 80’s tv-series, The A-Team, starring Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Patrick Wilson and Jessica Biel, it promises to be one of the most fun, action-packed movies of the summer.
7. The Last Airbender– Although some controversy has erupted over the casting, that doesn’t change the fact that this adaptation of the beloved animated tv-show is most likely going to be one of the top-grossing movies of the summer.
6. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – Before you start rolling your eyes understand that whether you’re a twilight fan or not, its popularity among its fans is undeniable. However, the marketing of Eclipse hasn’t been anywhere near as persistent as that of New Moon…resulting in less hype. Don’t be fooled though, on June 30th: stay away from the theaters unless you’re ready to talk Team Edward vs. Team Jacob!
5. Sex and the City 2– Another one for the girls out there. The first one is one of the top-10 highest grossing R-rated movies of all-time…and I wouldn’t be surprised if Sex and the City 2 follows suit.
4. Robin Hood– Russel Crowe + director Ridley Scott teaming up again + a new spin on Robin Hood = another film as good as Gladiator? Lets hope so!
3. Toy Story 3– It might be a kids movie, but I don’t know anyone that isn’t pumped to re-visit Woody, Buzz and all of Andy’s other toys…we’ve missed them these past 10 years. Plus, can Pixar do any wrong? Really now.
2. Iron Man 2- Luckily this is not only one of the first big movies of the summer (it hits theaters this weekend!), but it’s also one of the most highly anticipated! The first Iron Man is one of the most celebrated comic book-turned-movie adaptations of all-time…let’s hope the second doesn’t disappoint.
1. Inception- So why is Inception number one on this list? For those of you that don’t avidly follow movie buzz, you probably haven’t even heard of it. And for those of you that do: you still barely know anything about it! But as Christopher Nolan’s first movie since the incredible Dark Knight, you can’t help but be excited for what he has for us next. Add into the equation leads like Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page…and well, that doesn’t hurt much either.
Gotta love summer! What movie are you looking forward to most?
